That is the honest version: no "share", no pool payout in cents. All or nothing.
The probability of finding a block depends directly on hash rate. Every hash is a single ticket, and the global bitcoin network draws a winner every 10 minutes. What is the main difference between the Nerdminer V2 and the NerdNOS?
The Nerdminer V2 is an ESP32-S3 microcontroller that takes part in the bitcoin network at 250 kH/s, silently, under 1 watt, for 48.99 €. The NerdNOS uses a real Bitmain BM1397 ASIC chip and reaches 80 to 120 GH/s at 8 watts, for 99 €. Both take part in the same solo mining network and can win the same block reward (3.125 BTC). The difference: the NerdNOS has up to 480,000x more hash rate, but it is not silent (active fan).
Can I really earn bitcoin with these devices?
Honest answer: solo mining is probabilistic. Neither the Nerdminer V2 nor the NerdNOS is meant as a source of income. Even with the NerdNOS (400,000x more hash rate than the V2) the chance of finding a block stays small. Both devices are real lottery tickets: if you find a block you get the full 3.125 BTC reward in your wallet. Otherwise nothing. Our recommendation: buy one because you want to understand and support bitcoin mining, not as an investment.
Can I run both devices in parallel?
Yes, and it is a sensible approach. Both miners can be configured to the same bitcoin wallet address and use the same solo pool (public-pool.io). That way you submit two parallel hashing streams on every block, twice as many tickets in the race. Bundle price: 134 € one-off (instead of 147.99 € separately), around 25 € of electricity a year.
Which firmware runs on the devices?
Both run open source firmware. The Nerdminer V2 uses NerdMiner_v2 (GitHub: BitMaker-hub/NerdMiner_v2), the NerdNOS runs AxeOS (a fork of ESP-Miner from the BitAxe ecosystem). Both are fully readable on GitHub, with no telemetry and no proprietary components. You can flash firmware updates straight from the browser at any time, on our firmware update page.
How loud are the devices in operation?
The Nerdminer V2 is completely silent: passively cooled, no fan, no moving parts. It can run in a bedroom without a second thought. The NerdNOS has an active fan and is audible on a desk, similar to a laptop fan under load. Not disturbingly loud, but we do not recommend it for a bedroom if you are sensitive to noise.
How much electricity do the miners use?
Nerdminer V2: under 1 watt, about 2.80 € of electricity a year running 24/7 (at 0.32 €/kWh). NerdNOS: around 8 watts, about 22 to 25 € of electricity a year. For comparison: an old 60-watt bulb uses more than the NerdNOS. Both devices are fine in living spaces, and the V2 can stay in any room permanently.
How long does delivery take?
