The Nerdminer V2 performs real Bitcoin Solo Mining via the public Stratum pool public-pool.io. If your device finds a valid block, the block reward (currently 3.125 BTC plus the transaction fees of all transactions included in the block) is transferred directly to the address you entered in the miner configuration in the so-called Coinbase transaction. Without this address, there would be no one to receive the reward — so the pool rejects the worker when connecting.
In short: The Bitcoin address is your mailbox for the potential reward. It must belong to you, not the seller, not the pool, no one else. The pool uses it as the Coinbase output target address in the block you might find, and the Bitcoin network irrevocably transfers the amount there once the block is confirmed.
What exactly is a Bitcoin address?
A Bitcoin address is a string of letters and numbers — similar to an IBAN, but with more characters and a built-in error check. Behind every address is a private key, which acts like a password: whoever has the private key controls all Bitcoin at the associated address. Assuming your Nerdminer actually finds a block (statistically rare, but according to mempool.space data, it happens in documented solo pools every 2-3 weeks worldwide for some solo miner). Here's what happens in that order:
- Block found — Your Nerdminer calculates a valid block hash and transmits it to public-pool.io.
- Pool verifies and forwards — The pool checks the block for validity and sends it to the Bitcoin network. All Bitcoin nodes worldwide accept it.
- Coinbase transaction — The new block contains a special first transaction (the Coinbase transaction) that transfers the block reward, currently 3.125 BTC plus the transaction fees of all transactions included in the block, to your configured Bitcoin address. Transaction fees can range from a few tenths of a BTC to several additional BTC depending on network congestion.
- 100-Block Confirmation — Bitcoin protects Coinbase rewards with a built-in waiting period: 100 more blocks must be found after your found block before the reward can be spent. This takes approximately 16-17 hours. This rule is directly in the Bitcoin protocol and prevents issues with rare chain reorganizations.
- Automatic credit — After 100 blocks, the amount is fully available. It will automatically appear in your account's Bitcoin wallet at Finst. You can hold it there, exchange it for another cryptocurrency, or transfer it to your bank account in Euros via SEPA payout.

The private key and seed phrase ARE secret
What you should never share are your private key, your seed phrase (12 or 24 words for software/hardware wallets), or your Finst password. Anyone who has one of these three things has full access to your Bitcoin. Finst or other reputable providers will never ask you for your password or seed phrase via email, phone, or chat. Any such request is a scam attempt (phishing).

No, at Finst, the amount remains in Bitcoin until you actively place an exchange order. You decide whether you want to hold the Bitcoin, exchange it for Euros, convert it to another cryptocurrency, or withdraw it to an external wallet.
Does the Nerdminer V2 support Lightning Network addresses?
No. The Nerdminer V2 mines on the Bitcoin base layer via the classic Stratum protocol pool public-pool.io. Lightning addresses (e.g., in the format name@lightning.address) or LNURL do not work — you absolutely need a classic on-chain Bitcoin address in the bc1q format.
Does Finst automatically accept Bitcoin from a Coinbase transaction?
Modern EU-regulated exchanges like Finst treat Coinbase outputs as normal Bitcoin deposits after the 100-block maturity period in the Bitcoin protocol — so the Bitcoin should be automatically credited to your account. That is a Taproot address (P2TR) — which is not supported by the Nerdminer V2.
